An interesting way to think about spending $$$ on your fitness.

Since I have temporarily moved to SF for the winter, I was trying to figure out where can I go to the gym. I ended up really enjoying F45 classes. They are well designed by the athletes, the environment is quite motivating and they are optimized for maximum efficiency within 45 minutes.

It's more fun than going to the gym, and that's what will keep me engaged. I've tried many times and failed at being consistent on my own.

But this gym was a bit pricey. I really wanted to do it, but I couldn't justify spending this amount of money on those classes.

I ended up turning to ChatGPT for answers, and it gave me a perspective I had never thought about.

"Regular exercise reduces long-term healthcare costs. Consider:

  • Cost of healthcare if you don’t stay healthy.
  • Savings from preventing illnesses related to inactivity (e.g., obesity, heart disease)"

Sure you spend some money now, but the cost of not spending this money is worse. And maybe the intangible issues that come along with those health problems would be so much worse. It's the long game. The answer was pretty clear.

I immediately signed up and committed myself to the program. 🫡
