I just saw the classiest response by a company that just got sherlocked! 📵

Being sherlocked is a phenomena in the tech industry where a third party improvement to an existing big tech product is then recreated and integrated by the big tech - rendering the entire product of the third party obsolete.

Eg. Apple releasing polished and system integrated sleep, medication, fitness apps, there by rendering most apps in the app store that did the same thing practically useless.

Now coming to the current story:

I have been using super.so for 3+ years. It is a product that allows you to link your domain to your Notion page and effectively allow you to create official websites through Notion. You could already share your Notion pages on the internet, but the URL and design was non customizable, so this was a great solution.

And then, this year, Notion announce Notion Sites, which practically allowed its users to do what super.so does, but without needing a third party tool.

Now in this situation, super.so, could have been in trouble, and they could have created some controversy by creating an uproar about it. But I really liked their approach -

Instead they actually celebrated the feature, and went ahead to describe how their service is more unique and robust that what Notion offers at the moment. They also laid down their future roadmap and explained how they will continue to be different in the future. 💡

And finally they even created a discount code for a free month to their product and names it NOTIONSITES 😎

Something like this makes me want to stick with Super, even if Notion functionality surpasses them, because I really like their culture and values.
