Have you had a chance to use Perplexity yet?

It is quickly gaining traction and becoming an addition to my GenAI stack. Where tools like ChatGPT, Gemini etc are being used to generate, Perplexity shines as being a great tool to do research and browse the web and always cites legitimate sources - thereby avoiding hallucinations (inaccurate responses) that other tools are usually called out for.

Lenny Rachitsky recently ran a poll where he found out over 60% of PMs are using GenAI tools on a daily basis. With Perplexity being a popular one.

In most roles, but especially in Product, where ambiguity is second nature, Perplexity quickly becomes a great tool to get up to speed on complex topics, and save hours of research work. Hours that can then be spent in communications or creativity.

He then posted a great article about use cases of Perplexity in PM work. Here was how he categorized it.

  • Understanding and crafting growth strategy
  • Finding benchmarks
  • Doing market research
  • Learning best practices
  • Evaluating popular tools
  • Understanding technical jargon

There are almost 20+ examples of prompts. I would highly recommend checking out that article. And also checking out Perplexity. I have personally really enjoyed using Perplexity as a starting point for my MBA projects.
